Project Overview - Transferability
Transferability of the Model to Other Curriculum Domains
One of the goals of the project was to develop a Curriculum Commons Model and Toolkit that could be field tested in the Practical Nurse programs offered at the collaborating colleges. A challenge for the committee was to develop a model and toolkit that could be replicated across the Alberta post-secondary system. The literature review, stakeholder interviews, and committee dialogue revealed some duplication of curriculum development across the system. Given Alberta Advanced Education and Technology’s commitment to Campus Alberta, there should be more collaboration and cooperation, rather than competition, across the system in the future. Curriculum collaboration can leverage effectiveness and efficiency. Successful collaboration relies, in part, on the establishment of an enabling framework built on curriculum models and tools. Thus, the replicability and transportability of the model and toolkit to other curriculum domains was an important aspect of the project.
